When Remus E-mail me to let me know he was heading back into the country I suggested we meet somewhere along the way back up. On the 27th of August I caught up with him in Chattanooga, Tenn. This location made riding to Deal’s Gap a must. The next day we headed to the Cherohala Skyway. The road was perfect. We only passed a few BMW LT’s along the way.

By the time we got to Deal’s Gap it became obvious that the BMW LT owners were having a Rally. In addition to them a large group of BMWz3 (car) owner were trying their skill through the gap. We had the pleasure of low traffic on the dragon, although at one point as I was turning a tight corner I was confronted by a z3 head on in my lane.

Turn and twist and turn and….

Right and turn than left and tilt….

A little while later we passed this sight!

I was not sure at first what kind of car it was.

Thursday August 28, 2003: The Dragon Claims Another...A factory test Viper came to slay the Dragon and got bit and spit-out while many BMWs made it safely across.
Thanks to Don Bailey from Texas for the photo.

The next day we head up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful ride. Absolutely no traffic all morning.

Later that day we head north to meet our friend Jeff at Hermy's BMW In Port Clinton, PA. The plan was to ride up to Saratoga Springs, NY. Well long story made short, Jeff’s bike did not want to play. After about 15 minutes of riding his engine over heated and blow a water hose. We stopped and repaired the hose and went back to Hermy’s for some technical consultation. Herm found a fuse out on the blower fan, replaced it and sent us on our way. The three of us drove for 85miles when Jeff’s bike died. He was riding along at 65 mph and the bike started to slow down at the same time his gear indicator light showed neutral position. No idea what was up.

We ended up waiting 2hour in the rain for BMW roadside assistance to show up. The next day Remus went north and I drove Jeff south to meet his wife in a convenient location. How about that for a big welcome home Remus?
